Computing genus 2 curves from invariants on the Hilbert moduli space

We give a new method for generating genus 2 curves over a finite field with a given number of points on the Jacobian of the curve. We define two new invariants for genus 2 curves as values of modular functions on the Hilbert moduli space and show how to compute them. We relate them to the usual three Igusa invariants on the Siegel moduli space and give an algorithm to construct curves using these new invariants. Our approach simplifies the complex analytic method for computing genus 2 curves for cryptography and reduces the amount of computation required.

The Hilbert Scheme
Many important moduli spaces can be constructed as quotients of the Hilbert scheme by a group action. For example, to construct the moduli space of smooth curves of genus g ≥ 2, we can first embed all smooth curves of genus g in Pn(2g−2)−g by a sufficiently large multiple of their canonical bundle K C . Any automorphism of a variety preserves the canonical bundle. Hence, two n-canonically embed...
متن کاملThe Moduli Space of Curves
In this section, we will give a sketch of the construction of the moduli space Mg of curves of genus g and the closely related moduli space Mg,n of n-pointed curves of genus g using two different approaches. Throughout this section we always assume that 2g − 2 + n > 0. In the first approach, we will embed curves in a projective space P using a sufficiently high power n of their dualizing sheaf....
متن کامل1-point Gromov-witten Invariants of the Moduli Spaces of Sheaves over the Projective Plane
The Gieseker-Uhlenbeck morphism maps the Gieseker moduli space of stable rank-2 sheaves on a smooth projective surface to the Uhlenbeck compactification, and is a generalization of the Hilbert-Chow morphism for Hilbert schemes of points. When the surface is the complex projective plane, we determine all the 1-point genus-0 Gromov-Witten invariants extremal with respect to the Gieseker-Uhlenbeck...
متن کاملIntersections of Tautological Classes on Blowups of Moduli Spaces of Genus-One Curves
We give two recursions for computing top intersections of tautological classes on blowups of moduli spaces of genus-one curves. One of these recursions is analogous to the well-known string equation. As shown in previous papers, these numbers are useful for computing genusone enumerative invariants of projective spaces and Gromov-Witten invariants of complete intersections.
متن کاملBilliards and Teichmüller curves on Hilbert modular surfaces
This paper exhibits an infinite collection of algebraic curves isometrically embedded in the moduli space of Riemann surfaces of genus two. These Teichmüller curves lie on Hilbert modular surfaces parameterizing Abelian varieties with real multiplication. Explicit examples, constructed from L-shaped polygons, give billiard tables with optimal dynamical properties.
